There are a lot of reasons why Port Dickson in Malaysia is a very popular destination for travellers especially during holiday season. One, it’s home to a plethora of attractions like beaches, heritage sites, parks, and museums. Two, it’s only an hour’s drive from the capital city of Kuala Lumpur so it’s very accessible. And three, accommodations are affordable and not that difficult to find. If it’s your first time to visit the region, below are a few things you should keep in mind.

How To Get There

There’s no airport in Port Dickson so you can only get into the region by bus or boat depending on where you’re coming from. There are roads linking the region to the rest of Peninsular Malaysia.  There are buses to Port Dickson that originate from places like Seremban, Sungai Pelek, and Malacca. And if you happen to be coming from Dumai, Indonesia, there are daily ferries that connect the place to Port Dickson.

Getting Around

There are very limited buses operating within Port Dickson. The main mode of transportation is through taxis. It’s good if you have your own car but if you don’t, hiring a taxi is your only choice. It’s also worth mentioning here that taxis there don’t use meters. They will charge you depending on the distance and the number of people on board.

Where To Eat, Drink And Shop

The region is home to restaurants that offer a variety of both local and western cuisine. Some of these notable restaurants include Double Queue, Lucky King Bun, Weng Yin Seafood Village, and Restoran Fatt Kee. For more information about these restaurants and other popular dining places, you should find a Port Dickson blog that covers the region’s cuisine and food culture. If you want to go shopping, there’s the Billion Supermarket and the Oceanic Mall.
